About

The URI Men’s Ice Hockey Team competes in the highly competitive Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA), one of the most competitive leagues in the country. In addition to conference play, URI Hockey regularly competes against NCAA Division III opponents and other top ACHA programs nationwide.

As a club sport, the program is largely student-run and relies on the generosity of alumni, families, and friends to support its operations and competitive goals.

How Your Gift Helps

Support for the team is directed through RhodyNow: Men’s Ice Hockey, the program’s immediate-use charitable fund. This fund is managed by The University of Rhode Island Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all gifts are tax-deductible. Contributions are used directly to meet the team’s current needs.

Gifts to Men’s Ice Hockey help offset the cost of participation for student-athletes and support essential expenses such as travel, lodging, meals, tournament fees, equipment upkeep, and safety-related costs.

Help Us Raise $40,000 for the 2026 ACHA National Tournament

This season, the team is raising $40,000 to support travel to the 2026 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Tournament in mid-March. Participating in this championship event requires advance planning for travel, lodging, transportation of equipment, and entry fees.

This year’s opportunity is especially meaningful for the program. Our most recent appearance at the National Tournament was in 2015, and 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of URI’s historic 2006 National Championship win. Returning to the national stage during this milestone year is a powerful motivator for our players and an important moment for the entire Rhody Hockey community.

Your support ensures that our student-athletes can compete at the highest level and proudly represent URI during this landmark season.

Make An Immediate Impact

Your gift of any size makes a real impact. Here are some examples:

  • $25 helps provide essential supplies and team travel needs

  • $50 supports meals for student-athletes on tournament travel days

  • $100 offsets costs for ground transportation

  • $150 contributes to equipment preparation and safety gear

  • $250 helps cover lodging for one night for a student-athlete

  • $500 supports airfare or major travel costs

  • $1,000 sponsors a significant portion of tournament fees or multi-day lodging

  • $2,500 underwrites a major portion of team travel expenses

Every gift moves the team closer to the $40,000 goal and closer to competing for a national title.
