Support URI Club Crew
The URI Club Crew Team competes at a high level in collegiate rowing, participating in regional regattas and national championship events through the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA). The team consistently represents the University of Rhode Island against strong club and varsity programs from across the country.
As a club sport, URI Club Crew is largely student-run and relies on the generosity of alumni, families, and friends to support day-to-day operations and long-term competitive goals. Athlete commitment extends far beyond time on the water, with students managing training, logistics, travel planning, and fundraising to sustain the program.
How Your Gift Helps
Support for the team is directed through RhodyNow: Club Crew, the program’s immediate-use charitable fund. This fund is managed by The University of Rhode Island Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all gifts are tax-deductible. Contributions are used directly to meet the team’s current needs.
Gifts to Club Crew help offset the cost of participation for student-athletes and support essential expenses such as equipment maintenance and replacement, race entry fees, travel, lodging, meals, and safety-related costs. Donor support ensures that rowing remains accessible while allowing the team to train and compete at a high level.
A Critical Need: Help Us Attend the 2026 ACRA Championship
This season, URI Club Crew must raise $30,000 to make participation in the 2026 American Collegiate Rowing Association Championship possible.
The cost of competing at this national event has increased substantially in recent years. Transportation, lodging, equipment logistics, and championship entry fees all require advance commitment and funding well before the racing season concludes. For a fully student-funded program, these costs represent a significant challenge.
This fundraiser is not optional, it is essential to the team's participation. Without meeting this goal, the team risks limiting roster participation or being unable to compete on the national stage at all. Donor support directly determines whether student-athletes who have trained year-round can represent URI at the championship level.
Your gift ensures that financial constraints do not prevent dedicated student-athletes from competing for a national result.
Make an Immediate Impact
Your gift of any size makes a meaningful difference. Here are examples of how contributions support the team:
- $25 helps provide essential training and team supplies
- $50 supports meals for athletes during regattas or training trips
- $100 offsets race entry fees or local travel expenses
- $150 contributes to equipment maintenance and safety gear
- $250 helps cover lodging costs for a student-athlete during competition
- $500 supports long-distance travel or equipment transportation
- $1,000 contributes significantly to multi-day travel, lodging, or championship-related expenses
- $2,500 underwrites a major portion of team training or national championship costs
Every gift helps URI Club Crew continue to compete, grow, and succeed at the collegiate level.

URI Crew is heading back to Lake Lure, North Carolina from March 14–21, 2026 for our annual spring training trip at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure. Our team is so excited to be traveling together again for spring break and incredibly thankful that Rumbling Bald is able to host us once more. This is our most important week of training all year, with two practices a day and valuable team time that truly sets us up for the rest of the season. It’s also our first real stretch back on the water after a long winter of training indoors, which makes this week especially important for building speed and reconnecting as a team.
To make this week successful, the biggest thing we need is help fueling our athletes. Please consider helping us feed the team by making a monetary donation. All funds raised between now and March 14th will go towards our spring break travel needs!
We will happily accept dry good donations such as rice, pasta, beans, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, bread, canned fish, cereal, granola bars, canned fruit, tomato sauce, and other non perishables which will be shared across the team to keep everyone fueled throughout the week. Please contact a team member or either of us (kearahartnett@uri.edu or cody.pinsky@uri.edu) to coordinate dropping off canned goods for the team.
Thank you for supporting URI Crew!
